I'd read Niven's own writings but this book shed extra interesting light on the character. I'd seen lots of his films but was surprised at how many he'd actually made. It just goes to show that someone can definitely start off in acting because of "who you know"? The writer didn't write Niven as a particularly warm person, though the actor may well have been in real life.
